Darren had done some research and had heard that the Archetype was a favorite wide clincher rim. He asked for this custom build on a budget. The wheelset is a 20f24r Archetype wheelset laced with black CX-Rays front, and rear on the non-drive side. To save a bit of money and the drive side is Wheelsmith DB-14 2.0/1.7/2.0 butted round spokes. Sapim 14mm black alloy nipples.  The hubs are ZED original equipment – an affordable and fully serviceable popular Taiwanese hubset. To shave even more weight, instead of the stock nylon rim tape that I stick onto the rim bed, Darren went for yellow Velo-plugs to drop a few precious grams at the perimeter where it counts. A nice wheelset starting at $599 and adds spoke upgrades and 42 gram titanium skewers.
