Rob picked up a wicked deal on a Specialized Tarmac frame set. He then bought the Shimano Ultegra 6800 mechanical 11 speed group set.  The last bit to pick were wheels. Robs’ timing was spot on. I had a 28h Tune Mag 170 with a tiny scratch that I was clearing out. Rob preferred a lightweight build but needed a few extra spokes for added durability. The Pacenti SL23, 24m wide 6061 alloy rim was reliably an honest and verified 450 grams per rim. My rough calculations estimated a complete build to be in at around 1420 grams. Well, these 24h front, Tune Mig 70, with 28h rear Tune Mag 170 11 speed hubs laced to Pacenti SL23 rims with Sapim CX-Ray spokes and Sapim polyax alloy nipples ended up weighing in at 1410 grams for the set. Fantastic weight for a solid wheelset.

I am looking forward to hearing from Rob after his first ride on his new bike.
